Transparent Pricing: What’s Changing, and Why

If you’ve been following the prices of precious metals, you’ve probably noticed that silver and gold have risen sharply over the past year. These shifts affect every small jewelry studio differently, and I believe in being open about how they impact my work and the pieces you wear.
Transparency has always mattered to me. Jewelry is personal. It is worn close to the body and often tied to meaning, memory, and milestones. You deserve to understand not just what you are buying, but the realities behind how it is made.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
Silver and gold are global commodities. Their prices fluctuate based on supply, demand, geopolitical pressures, mining output, refining capacity, and broader economic forces well beyond any single studio’s control.
Over the past year, both metals have risen significantly, particularly silver, with ripple effects across the entire supply chain. This is not just about raw metal pricing. For small batch, responsibly sourced materials, increases show up in casting costs, findings, chains, refining, minimums, and access to certain materials.
Last fall, I shared a reel walking through the rising cost of gold and what that meant for independent jewelers like me. If you would like to revisit that breakdown, you can watch it here.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR A SMALL STUDIO
In an independent studio, material costs do not exist in isolation.
Metal prices affect casting and remakes, chains and findings, repairs and resizing, minimums and batch sizes, and the ability to offer size inclusive options without penalizing customers for needing more material.
Unlike mass produced jewelry, my work is made in small batches, often one piece at a time. That approach allows for care, flexibility, and intention, but it also means I do not have the buffer of scale when costs rise. Every increase is felt directly.

HOW I HAVE RESPONDED
I held pricing steady for as long as possible, absorbing increases behind the scenes and adjusting where I could without compromising quality or materials.
Recently, it became clear that to continue making work responsibly, without cutting corners or quietly lowering standards, a modest price adjustment was necessary. This decision was made to protect the integrity of the work and the long term sustainability of my studio.
WHAT HAS NOT CHANGED
What has not changed is my commitment to
- thoughtful small batch making
- size inclusive pricing wherever possible
- materials chosen for longevity, not trends
- transparency over silence
I remain deeply invested in making jewelry that is meant to be worn often, kept for years, and passed along with meaning attached.
A NOTE OF GRATITUDE
I am deeply grateful for the people who choose to support small studios, especially during moments like this. Your support allows this work to continue slowly, intentionally, and with care, and it allows me to keep making pieces with the values that brought you here in the first place.
Thank you for being part of this community and for trusting me with something so personal.

PRICING FAQ
Will prices keep rising
Precious metal prices change constantly, and I cannot predict future market shifts. What I can promise is that pricing decisions are made thoughtfully, not reactively. Any adjustments are based on real costs and the long term sustainability of my studio, not short term trends.
Why not wait longer to adjust pricing
I absorbed rising costs for as long as possible. Waiting longer would have meant compromising on materials, quality, or quietly changing how pieces are made. Adjusting pricing allows me to continue offering the same level of care, craftsmanship, and size inclusivity you expect.
Are you switching materials or lowering quality
No. I will not switch to lower quality materials or cut corners to offset rising costs. All pieces are still made using the same thoughtfully sourced metals and processes that define my work.
How do you decide when a price change is necessary
I look at material costs, production expenses, and the overall health of the business. Pricing changes happen only when they are necessary to ensure the work can continue to be made responsibly and sustainably.
Does this affect custom or future pieces
Custom work and future releases may reflect updated material costs at the time they are made. I will always communicate pricing clearly before any custom project begins. When you reach out for a quote on a project, instead of being given a 3 month window to decide if you want to move forward with locked pricing, that now falls to 24-48 hours.
