#HootUpCraft with HootSuite

Posted by 1 on

A few weeks ago, I had the fantastic opportunity to attend the #HootUpCraft event, hosted by HootSuite! I had never before been to HootSuite headquarters and was very excited to see inside. The staff was warm and welcoming and I was so grateful they had sandwiches and juice boxes for us (I had driven across the city straight from work and had not yet had a chance to eat - I was famished!). - WAIT - What is HootSuite? [call_out align="left" ]HootSuite is a social media management system for businesses and organizations to collaboratively execute campaigns across multiple social networks from one secure, web-based dashboard. Launch marketing campaigns, identify and grow audiences, and distribute targeted messages using HootSuite’s unique social media dashboard. Streamline team workflow with scheduling and assignment tools and reach audiences with geo-targeting functionality. Invite multiple collaborators to manage social networks securely, plus provide custom reports using the comprehensive social analytics tools for measurement. Key social network integrations include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and new Google+ Pages, plus a suite of social content apps for YouTube, Flickr, Tumblr and more.[/call_out] Back to the #HootUpCraft Event. The Meet & Greet began at 5:30. Guests were given name tags and we shmoozed and made connections while we all worked to craft a highly coveted #PlushOwly. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="428"] It's a party here! by momomintsshop[/caption] The main event was a talk lead by Jenna & Chandler of Make It Productions (@MakeItShow) - the countdown is on to Make It Vancouver (#MakeItVancouver) and they presented a brief summary of their best practices as a vendor for the holiday season. As a vendor, the holiday season is the biggest, best reason to work hard all year. A successful holiday season allows us to improve our skills, take bigger risks, and get our products to more people. A poor holiday season is never any fun! The biggest take away I got from Jenna and Chandler's talk was: [caption id="attachment_2820" align="aligncenter" width="400"]Get Organized by LanaBettydownload the 1600x1200 inspirational desktop wallpaper Get Organized! great advice by Jenna & Chandler. Do you want more? Read my 12 tips on craft show preparation. HootSuite followed with an overview of how HootSuite can improve your social media platforms and a great presentation by (@ElaizaDatar) about how to really focus in on your key demographic and improve your social media strategy. I have been using HootSuite for a while now and have been very happy with the results. As I have become more and more dependent on mobile social networking, I admit I had not spent the time to review all of the changes going on at HootSuite. They now have such a powerful browser-powered application complete with Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, and LinkedIn compatibilities, not to mention Instagram, Flickr, Tumblr, YOU NAME IT addons! I left the event feeling charged and ready for social media action. I felt inspired. I felt... hungry again! After a quick bite to eat, I dove back onto my social media platforms and made a HUGE list of things I'd like to do for LanaBetty and I've been working to build in timelines. I'm excited to share that list, but it will have to wait until next week! Thank you so much to HootSuite for hosting the event, to Jenna & Chandler for their great advice, and to all the new friends I connected with at the event. To keep you inspired, I have borrowed this fantastic treasury that really helps one hone in on getting organized (for craft show or otherwise). It always feels good to get organized - I am a personal fan of lists (and checkmarks on those lists). What do you do to keep organized and stress free during the holiday season? Comment below.
