Like a tremendous wave of water, rushing in off the ocean, as hard as we try to stop it, we just can't stop CHRISTMAS. It's coming! I enjoy the holidays just as much as the next fanatical christmas-lover, but I strongly believe there is a time and a place. Unfortunately, in the homemade business, one must be ahead of the seasons. I hear it's even a good idea to begin pitching for Valentine's Day when October comes around! While that is certainly a goal for the future of LanaBetty, currently the mad hustle is in preparation for the holiday shows in Vancouver. Which part of the holidays are you most looking forward to? [caption id="attachment_2687" align="aligncenter" width="570"] Business Card Holder by Gets Me Every Time[/caption] Have you heard? LanaBetty will be at three (3) amazing shows. What's great is that each show offers a very unique take on the concept of craft shows and I am so honored to be a part of each of them. To learn more, including which vendors will be at each show, see the events page. Tell me; which holiday show(s) will you be making a point to visit? Round One: Make It Show November 28 to December 1 at the PNE Forum (2901 East Hastings Street) What Makes it Unique: This will be the largest show of it's kind in the Greater Vancouver Area. There is a lot of hype and it's well deserved. Each vendor has been hand picked and the selling categories have been carefully curated to showcase only they very best this great community has to offer. It's going to be BIG (over 250 vendors) and they have a liquor license so you can drink and shop for loved ones (who doesn't like that idea!?) Round Two: Portobello West Market December 7 - December 8 at the Olympic Village Recreation Centre (1 Athletes Way) What Makes it Unique: Recently voted the Georgia Straights "Best of Vancouver" for Best Artisan/Craft Fair, there's no reason to doubt that when you take a stroll through the aisles. Packed full of the hottest talent and the coolest trends, many of the Portobello West Alumni have moved upward and onward to open their own shops and have found many great successes. Round Three (Final Round): Got Craft? Holiday Market December 14 - December 15 at the Maritime Labour Centre (1880 Triumph Street) What Makes it Unique: Fantastically curated, the vendor lineup at Got Craft? is like no other. Full of fancy finds and vintage inspiration, walking into the Got Craft? Hall is like walking into another world. I have likened Got Craft to being the Nationals of Craft Shows and the show does not disappoint. Get up early and head to the show at a ridiculous hour if you want to win yourself a swag bag full of goodies contributed by each vendor! [caption id="attachment_2688" align="aligncenter" width="400"] Jewelry Display by Courtney O[/caption] And what better way to prepare than to create a treasury stock full of delicious display inspiration. LanaBetty display esthetic is simple and cutesy but this year it's time to step it up. With a 10x5 booth at Make It and an 8ft space available at Got Craft, it's all about being diverse and classy while still being able to be cute, fun, and approachable. To do this, I've kept my display elements neutral (white) and am adding pops of color that are easily transferrable or removeable (fabrics, lining, signage). Stay tuned and keep your eyes peeled for the amazing changes coming to LanaBetty! Do you think how a product is displayed helps or hinders it's ability to sell? What do you look for in a display? 'Jewelry Display' by LanaBetty It's time to begin preparing for the holiday shows! This year, LanaBetty is moving up and on, debuting an entirely new jewelry line! In order to show off my new goods, I've taken some great inspiration from these great designer displays!
