Kickstart Sarita Mann Designs

Posted by 1 on

So this is a little off the normal schedule, but friends, we have a limited timeline here. Have you heard? My girl Sarita Mann has drafted a kickstarter and she only has 3 days to go! Wait... what's a kickstarter? A kickstarter is a crowd-funding website where eager entreprenuers can share their story, find investors (where investors can give $1 or $1,000,000), and source the funding they need to grow their business and take the big leaps they need to succeed! To learn more visit Kickstarter.com. Right, about Sarita. She's radical and does some incredible design for print and paper. I admit I have a big of an obsession with paper. Clean paper. Paper without writing on it. Crisp. Clean. Ooooh. That's why I love Sarita Mann Design Studio so much. Her designs are clean, crisp, and just the right amount of cheeky. I am super proud of her to be growing her business and I hope you can be proud of her too. I've asked her to answer some of the questions I use for my follow friday; so you can learn a little more about her and maybe you'll feel like helping her reach her kickstarter goal and realize her dreams! It's a mobile studio that packs into my backpack, perfect for the on the go creator. I design paper goods, mostly a playful line of greeting cards which capture a youthful spirit with a simple aesthetic. I feel lucky that I get to create my own product for you to enjoy. Everything is printed in Vancouver with an environmentally conscious print facility on 100% recycled paper because sustainable materials and practices are as important as the illustrations. Playing entrepreneur and designer sometimes clashes, but I’m learning to balance with a great support network of creatives and business owners. I love designing greeting cards, but this year I thought why not kick it up a notch. I've expanded to include prints and more! After so many requests I finally pushed through and decided I wanted to stick to the square aesthetic for the prints inline with my square greeting cards. The brown kraft paper is here to stay folks and it's obvious that I love it. Included in the roster are calendars, notebooks and the cutest buttons ever. With every print run I do my best to release new card designs perfect for the special occasions in your life. You have as many hours in a day as Beyoncé… It’s the perfect reminder to keep the hustle alive. I’m inspired by my friends and other peoples success. I’m not here to compete with anyone but make a place for myself. Meeting creatives keeps my dream alive and I love bouncing ideas with these talented people. You’ll notice I like to pull imagery from the fashion industry and I try my best to pay attention to colour trends for the year. But, I absolutely admire the vintage classic car and motorcycle culture. We’re so plugged in I try my best to look up once in a while because you really can’t knock being inspired by your everyday surroundings. November 2012, I created Sarita Mann Design Studio as a platform to showcase my point of view as a graphic designer. More importantly to produce quality products I would buy for myself. For a long time I have had my own opinion about what I feel good design is so I sought out to produce artwork that I would want to utilize in my day to day life, for my friends, peers and hopefully a larger audience. Get a website and get online! Do epic shit and appreciate your hustle. Always keep things interesting, you don’t want to get bored doing what you love. Build relationships and grow your network of creatives. Trust yourself! Remember, no idea is novel so be honest with your process and don’t be discouraged because someone else has done something similar. As long as you put your swing on it and it feels true to your design process keep at it. Kickstarter Video Get Social with Sarita Facebook | Twitter | Website Kickstarter | Pinterest | Instagram
